Dolphin Animal Totem

DOLPHIN ~ Represents: Manna, The Power of Breath and Sound

Dolphin is the keeper of the sacred breath of life, and teaches us how to release emotions through Dolphin breath. Dolphin creates rhythm, swimming through the water and breathing before submerging, then holding its breath for the duration of underwater travel. As Dolphin comes above water again, it blows its breath out in a manner resembling the popping of a cork. We can use this same technique to pull the stopper on our tensions and create total relaxation. This a good exercise to use before meditation. Manna is life force, is present in every atom, and is the Divine’s essence. Dolphin teaches us how to use life-manna through our breath. Many techniques for breathing exist that teach the proper use of breath. It revitalizes each cell and organ, and breaks the limits and dimensions of physical reality so that we many enter the Dreamtime. Dolphin can lead us to underground caverns and the primordial beginnings of ourselves. Dolphins are playful and display joy in their abilities to swim, flip, and twirl in the water and seem to show exaltation when jumping our of the water to greet the sun and air. Dolphins also play with other ocean creatures and have very curious natures. Dolphin also has sonar ability. It uses clicks and responds to the feedback of those clicks as the sound reverberates. Sound, breath, and water are all considered the sources of life. Sound is the creative life force. Sound came forth out of the womb of silence and created all things. Learning to create inner sounds so that we can create outer manifestations is part of what Dolphin can teach. If Dolphin has shown up in dreams, in nature, and/or we feel a kinship: People who have Dolphin as a totem usually have an affinity for the sea, and feel they can even breathe better being near it – certainly more relaxed, yet, water can do that for everyone because water is primordial and healing. People with Dolphin as a totem tend to connect with the signals of current energies around them and the planet like the sonar of their totem. These folks can be quite empathic and not realize that they are forgetting to breathe, feeling overwhelmed at times. Remembering the manna-breathe of the Universe that breathes through us all is the key to removing tension. If Dolphin has shown up, it’s time for us to ask ourselves some important questions. What are our words and thoughts creating for us? Is there a need to get outside and enjoy the fresh air? Are we holding in tensions? When Dolphin shows up it is time to breathe some new life into ourselves. Get out, play, explore, and most of all breathe and communicate with the rhythms of nature. To look at the face of Dolphin is to see joy, play, and laughter! The appearance of Dolphin can also be a time when we are to be a link to some solution for the Children of Earth, our brothers and sisters – a time when we are to link with Great Spirit and bring answers to our own questions or to those of others from the Dreamtime. Know that we are all whole in the eyes of Divine Source. Information/excerpts from the “Medicine Cards” by Jamie Sams & David Carson, and “Animal Speak” by Ted Andrews
